I lost two women who were dear to me. Arlene, my mother in law, passed in December, and my cousin past in February. I admire both women because each raised families, worked outside the home, and took time to enjoy being creative.
Arlene was a knitter and a sewer. She knitted socks for her 3 boys ( the boys are now men with families) and made prom dresses for her son's dates. Arlene, also crocheted many afghans for family and friends. I have several of her creations. Maria, who will always be one of my favorite people, is my father's niece. I wrote about her earlier in my blog. I saw pictures of her as a young woman and she was beautiful. Good bye Arlene and Maria, I will be with you again one day. Sincerely, Cindy Christmas was different this year. I picked up Daddy and Maria , and we drove to my brother, Fred's house. Fred and his wife,Gilda, hosted a dinner for us and her family. It was nice to catch up with them. The weather in my area has been warm for December, record breaking temperatures have reached the high 70's. We don't usually turn the air conditioner on in December but we did that day. My present to my dad was a beanie I loom knitted. My niece, Lauren, learned to knit, so she knitted beanies for her dad and husband. It was like beanies for everyone. We had a good family laugh together. Left back, brother Fred,Maria, Daddy, Freddie Sr., and me , Cindy
Hi, my name is officially Cynthia N. Outland, and I have always enjoyed crafting. I began making items to sell at local craft shows for extra income. It has been a slow process with my family being my best customers, but I keep at it and believing in myself. I have used free patterns and began a thank you page for the bloggers and artist who have shared patterns. My products are constructed to last and fulfill a need. Crochet dishcloths have been one of my favorites at local craft shows. I offer many sizes and colors. Red heart Yarn has Scrubby Yarn now, and it is perfect to combine with cotton yarn. The scrubbies are inexpensive and easy to clean. I use them for dishes and love to wash my bathtub with mine. I discard them as needed and don't feel bad about throwing them away. Remember to use 2 colors so that you don't cross-contaminate and spread germs from the bathroom to the kitchen. I support the use of reusable bags at the supermarket. The smaller bags are perfect to bring home fruits and vegetables. It is not uncommon for localities to ban the use of plastic bags or charge for the bags themselves. In my area of Virginia Beach, VA., Kroger grocery stores offer a 5 cent discount for each reusable bag. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cindyscraftshoppe/614392691998331?fref=ts

This summer is almost over and I am looking forward to autumn. I love the cooler temperatures and the color of the changing leaves. I did have a chance to travel to Wisconsin to visit my mother in law,Arlene. I enjoyed seeing my Wisconsin family, who welcomed us(Glen and I) with open arms.
The state of Wisconsin is beautiful and the city of Steven's Point would make a lovely hometown. The pictures below were take in April 2015. |
